English Q & A

Politeness: How to call a person to show respect to him/her?

Q: 我想請教一個問題 我們尊稱業界的前輩 在中文用 先進或前輩 在英文有沒有這樣的用詞 Senior除外

A: No, not to my knowledge unless you work in an organization and call someone using a job title.
You can describe someone as a pioneer if someone creates something important in the field. However, we do not use pioneer in greeting title such as writing emails or letters.
In organizations, there are more terms to call persons in terms of job ranking.
Americans hope to treat everyone equally (ideally), so there are not many terms 稱謂 to call people, unlike Japanese and Chinese.
